The above was verbatim, but now in week 8 I can say that my response was inadequately short. I was, in a roundabout way, saying assessment should be done for the student’s learning. In a class this year, a peer said to me that teaching is just tests, tests, tests, tests and then more tests, and at the time I vehemently disagreed, and though he was exclusively talking about lower order, memorization type tests, if we include assessment of, for, and as he's not that far off!
